Participating in a group or class at Arden gives students an alternative measure to learn and practice their language arts skills.  We tailor our groups to give our students more time in a structured, collaborative environment that gives them exposure to a broader range of ideas. 

Group Tutoring:
Group of 4-6 students meet together once a week for tutored help in school and
homework.  Students bring classroom assignments for teachers to aid in completion.
(55 minute class, $68 per monthly session.)

Book Clubs:
Group of 4-6 students meet together once a week to read and discuss works of
literature.  Students are given assigned reading to do for the next week's meeting.
Book Club discussions are centered around plot, character, setting, predictions,
and literary analysis.  Informal reading assessments are done at the first class
session to determine ability and secure class times.

Writing Workshops:
Groups of 4-6 students meet together once a week to practice and improve their
writing skills. Students are given specific writing prompts from which they select
one to write on for that day.  They then are taken through the writing process
(prewriting, drafting, editing).  Students are helped with grammar and sentence
structure.
(55 minute class, $68 per monthly session.)

Poetry Club:
Group of 4-6 students meet together once a week to write poetry!  A different form of
poetry is introduced each week.  Students illustrate their poems in a poetry book that
they keep for the session.
