Our Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to Arden Reading Academy!  Arden is an independently owned private and group tutoring center for the language arts.  We specialize in reading and writing enrichment.  Students new to Arden can receive a free diagnostic assessment to determine reading strengths and weaknesses.  This assessment will then be used to map out a personalized learning plan that will help your child to reach their reading and writing goals.

Students enrolled in private and/or group tutoring sessions at Arden are invited to enroll in enrichment workshops and activities as well.  These activities include writing workshops such as poetry, personal narrative, plays, and reader's theater. Continue to check the calendar for scheduled workshop dates and times.

The best way to significantly improve a child's reading and writing skills is simply to provide them with more opportunities to do so throughout the day.  In addition to the enrichment activities at Arden, be sure to communicate the importance of reading and writing at home through these simple measures:

* read to your child
* listen while your child reads to you
* give your child the opportunity to read silently in a fun, relaxed setting
* have your child write small notes to friends and family
* give your child lists to write (shopping, to do lists, want lists, etc.)
* limit the amount of media time in your home (video games, computer, t.v., etc.)

Student of the Month
Ellianne, 1st Grade
Ellie is a vivacious first grader who has improved greatly since her time at Arden.  She has gone from reading at the 1.3 grade level to reading at the 2.0 grade level over the course of five months.  Her favorite books right now are the Magic Tree House books by Mary Pope Osborne. Ellie's hobbies include gymnastics and swimming.  She wants to compete in gymnastics when she gets older.  Great job, Ellie!  Keep up the good work!
